When planning your next hike, the options are endless. You could take on one of your bucket list destinations like the Andes, or you could take on one of the lesser-known hidden gems of the hiking world.
There are a lot of noteworthy hiking trails out there waiting to be explored, it’s just a matter of finding them.
One of the worst things to experience on a hike is tons of people trying to follow the same route at different paces. Our personal preference is looking to take on quieter trails that are equally as exciting and not as congested.

2. Devil’s Peak

This trail is just as tricky as the name implies. The 24.2 miles long Devil’s Path is located in New York and promises to test even the most experienced hikers. The climb is steep and even requires hoisting to climb up slippery roots
3. El Hoyo Volcano
Location: Nicaragua
Located in one of Central America’s most mountainous regions with several active volcanoes, the El Hoyo Hike is truly something to behold. A day of tough hiking is rewarded with a swim in a crater lake with an impressive view.
4. Salcantay
Location: Peru
While the Inca Trail is every hiker’s dream, Peru is home to many interesting routes that aim to show you the beauty of this ancient city. The Salkantay Route showcases the natural beauty of the city without having to deal with crowds of people.
5. Mount Kenya
Location: Kenya
While most travellers head to Kilimanjaro, Africa’s second-highest mountain, Mount Kenya, receives fewer visitors. The trail offers views of the rainforest and Alpine landscapes – truly a once in a lifetime experience.
6. Mount Taranaki
Location: New Zealand
Located in Egmont National Park on the North Island, the dormant volcano Mount Taranaki offers a great hiking experience with scenic views. It’s often overlooked, which means that it’s truly off the beaten track.
